Although Joe Satriani is not my 'type of artist', I still prefer him over for example Joe Bonamassa. Satriani's style is kind of true to his genre, whereas Bonamassa goes into shred mode when playing regular blues songs.

Bonamassa is a great player, but plays the same lick on every song.
He is a very nice chap, but i cannot listen 20min of his songs.

Agree. Extremely good guitarist, great tone and gear, but he just can't restrain himself. I've heard several songs where the solo is really controlled and with lots of feeling, then suddenly he has to throw in those extremely fast runs and use heavy-metal-style vibrato. So irritating. He also doesn't have a lot of good songs, in my opinion, but there's no doubt he's a very good guitarist.

Totally agree.  It takes a great skill and talent to know not to play 10 notes when one will suffice.

I downloaded Joe Bonamassa's concert from the RAH 2009.  I enjoyed it up to a point, but then it became so boring - everything began to sound the same!    I have tried a few times, but I'm afraid he is just not for me.  John Henry and Sloe Gin were the best songs.
Goin' into Tow Law....

Tracker Tour - Manchester, Newcastle, London 02, RAH 26th May

DTRW Tour - Leeds, Newcastle, Verona

Joe's best album, for me, is the 'British Blues Explosion'.
The '3 Kings' concert is very good too.

He does some great covers, but i tend to dislike his original material.

I like Joe very much. Saw him around 20 times now.
Blues of Desperation is his best album.
His Band features Michael Rhodes from Golden Heart on Bass, Anton Fig on Drums and Reese Wynans from Stevie Ray Vaughan on Keys
so a Killer Live Band. It is the best Band around just after Mark's. That is for sure.

Between Bonamassa and Satriani I’d take the first italian for sure. I’ve tried to like Satriani, I even bought the silver surfer album about 20 years ago, but every time he starts to throw meaningless notes and noises in the air it turns me off so badly I just feel like listening to Brothers in Arms again for the 2.497th time.

But two drummers, playing the same, are too much drummers and I ask myself why the need of it...

So cool that Satriani likes the sound of the new album. No wonder though!  ;D  Now, maybe, he should tell us his thoughts about the previous albums...  ;)
As for guitar players, I like so many from classical music to jazz and pop to metal, maybe for different reasons, but all in all because they make the song or music piece better or even unique.
Come on, it is not funny anymore.
