Leeds... one of the cities in MK history. He started to play with Steve Phillips there and developed his finger style properly with him, and worked on his writing skills to ended being the songwriter he is and prepare him before going to London, with a bunch of songs written in the Leeds period...

I would had like to attend the couple of concerts in the very special cities in MK history as they are Leeds and Newcastle, but a family commitment didn't allow me to do it...

Don't miss the chance to visit the famous pubs in which MK used to play with Steve uner the name "The Duolian String Pickers"
You might get lucky, now and then

Especially, a visit to the Grove Inn is essential!   Perhaps have a drink there in the same room that MK played with Steve and Brendan!  :)

The famous 1986 first "Hillbillies" gig

Maybe The Grove Inn is not in the Leeds Arena area but it might be a good meeting point for its significance?

This is a picture of the Duolian Strig Pickers playing in 1968 in Leeds

You might get lucky, now and then

It is very close to Leeds City Station, though!   Just head down Neville Street at the side of the station, under the bridge and carry on over the river and canal and there is the Grove!    :)

The place to visit near the arena is Leeds University on Woodhouse Lane and also the Pack Horse, opposite the university.  The Eldon and Fenton are close by too.

Then The Pack Horse could be a great meeting point for all of you tomorrow?

Thank you for this first photo! I did not know that the first gig was already in 1986. So very soon after the world tour?

31st May 1986, The Grove pub, Leeds.

And they (Brendan, Steve and MK) played these:

    Drop-kick me, Jesus
    Tomorrow night
    Your cheating heart
    Tear it down
    That's alright mama
    Drinking wine
    Morning train
    Mabelene
    Down on my knees
    Bewildered
    I believe
    Love me tender
    Move it on over
    Ragged and dirty
    Wedding bells
    Lawdy Miss Clawdy
    Boogie Woogie dance
You might get lucky, now and then

Hedley Verity is probably best for eating!   ;)    All of those pubs near the university will be packed with students on a Saturday afternoon!  It doesn't bear thinking about!   :o

Edit:   Just read that it is under new management and there are some good reviews.

The Pack Horse is further to walk to, especially for people who are coming by train.  Hedley Verity is closer to the arena - only 4 mins.
