This song could have totally been written by Jeff Lynne.  The melody and lyrics especially.  Beautiful.

Does have a slight ELO vibe to it & George Harrison's slide style and sound too!
Hey, i`ve got a truffle dog - finally a song the ordinary man can relate too!

Love it, too, especially the lyrics. Production-wise, it's certainly sweet enough for me. ;)

Well others have called One Song at a Time the Masterpiece of the album, but after a week I'm leaning to Every Heart. A great melody, fine production & I think I'm just a sucker for every bonus track MK has ever done!!! The man should really release a Dylan-esque Bootleg series, I can't imagine what might be in the vaults!

A beautiful song, Mark's singing and slide playing is lovely.
Knopfler, Oldfield and Gilmour is all the guitar I need.

The more I listen to DTRW the more I like every song on it. I'm even starting to accept Heavy Up.

EHITR is delightful!

EHITR - is just simply amazing, and really love the feeling with this tune/song which seems to grow each time I listen to it......

The more I listen to the album the more I really enjoy this song, just a really nice melody and the slide playing is perfect, Absolutely hate the theromin sounding synth line though, but can overlook it,

I've been thinking about the lyrics a lot and it almost seems like it could be about a musician? singing/playing in a bar? Has Mark mentioned anywhere what this song is about?

I also think it's about a musician. Mark about himself?

Hi, all.  For some reason this song has always struck me as a father's words of advice to their child who has gotten into the entertainment industry (maybe even Issy).  It could be someone dreaming of getting into the music business, but it also works well for other forms of entertainment where there is a performer.  He is telling them to ignore the noise and people that aren't paying attention to the stage and to keep hanging on to their dream of being an entertainer, because one day everyone will pay attention to their performance - every heart will belong to them.

This seems like it is set in either a bar or a casino, where you have entertainment and a bar-type situation.

Well, that's my take on it.
