I'm planning to travel Germany in a month so it would be a real shame if they'd close the border because of the stupid virus.

where to?

Hamburg and Stuttgart hopefully, but it seems to me that the virus situation escalates so quickly there's a chance of the virus taking over my holiday.

Influenza we have a vaccine for, Covid-19 we don't and it is more deadly.  Today Italy announced 52 deaths from it so I think it should be taken seriously.

More people dies from flu but they don't say it on the news, it will ruin their end of the world piece of news...

That's right Jbaent. I heard that worldwide between 250.000 and 500.000 die from flu every year. That means at least 20.000 every month as an average.
So January and February would mean at least 40.000 people died from flu. Compared to 3.000-4.000 people who died from Covid19 in the same time.

but the mortality rate is totally different.
we cannot compare apples and oranges.
we have vaccines against the different strains of flu (or mortality would of course be much, much higher)
going foward, a vaccine WILL be found, and it will become one of many flu variants that travel the globe every year.

up to 49 years old the risk of dying from this new virus is roughly 0,3%
for the group 79 yrs and older it is already 14,8%
40.000 people diead from the flu this year alone, true, BUT, many, mannnnnnny more got it and got well again. mortality for normal flu is far below the Covid19 number.

Spanish press all stick to alarmisme.

I trust in the "comunicados" from the medical sources.

The medical sources in Spain they all say that despite having vaccines for normal flu, lot of people (usually old with previous health problem) doesn't go to have their vaccine and die from normal flu. And despite not existing vaccine for the covid, anyway from the covid die less people than from normal flu...

That comes from medical sources, not from the alarmist press media.

very true. i am news addicted, so i grab all and every news outlet i can get, without the paywall (i only pay for the washington Post, for now)
and it is only when seeing different news outlets that you will be able to filter the facts from the dribble

i think we all read that.
is public transport still working? (trams, busses etc..)
also, are people supposed to do homeoffice wherever possible? or no such advice?
