The Bob Dylan radio show had a very cool name, the MK one is not that cool but I guess it's promotion for his recording studio calling this radio show like his studio...

The promotional text says it's a weekly show, but it doesn't says how many weeks it will last...
Pretty sure his studio is more then well known, seeing as the stones, the who, Gilmour,Robbie Williams and many others already recorded there. I genuinely believe that is not the reason

It sounds interesting.   I remember a programme that he did on BBC Radio 2 in the 90s called "Roots" where he played music which had appealed to him through his life.    :)
Never heard of this! Anyone taped this back in the day?

I did record the Roots programme at the time and a few years later I transferred it to my computer.  It is 24 mb.  Any suggestions to how I can put it on the forum?   :hmm
Please, send it to me and will upload to Unlimited.

Thanks, added to Unofficial Audio/Mark Knopfler/Interviews and promos without live music/1996.12.xx - Roots - BBC Radio 2

Found it also in the Rare Sessions V compilation in perfect flac audio, so copied here too.

The British Grove broadcast is quite an awful name for a radio programme... there must be a reason!

The studio is named after the street on which it's located, makes sense. The programme is named after the studio. I guess Mark is not a fan of creative names, after Dire Straits and Notting Hillbillies did he name at least something in the "creative" way? Personally I love more straightforward names, and the studio's name is perfect.

From what I know about Sirius XM whne it was launched is that it is a US only (...well plus Canada) subscription radio

For more info see the Wikipedia entry : Sirius_XM

So no surprise for me that it is currently unavailable elsewhere.

My little theory is that because Mark's dear mother has died not so long ago, he was probably struck with the nostalgia lightning so hard he decided to revisit his roots once again, but this time properly with a weekly show instead of occasional and now almost forgotten mid-90s programme. Sort of a tribute to the "Listen with Mother".

Another little and crazy idea is that Mark decided to do a weekly show so he can book extra hours in the studio to work on songs and have another additional reason to do so. As was mentioned before, family life takes a lot of your free time (kids or no kids), so it's great to have this sort of an office to do stuff. For the man who writes more on the road than at home it seems a legit theory.

I have a more simple theory : this is business for British Grove and Mark liked the concept.

Yeah, more money for nothing while he's doing whatever he's doing right now, if he's doing anything at all...

It's predictably annoying this will be on a subscription service.

Iggy Pop has a regular show on BBC6 music. Much more accessible , not that I listen to it, but serves as a comparison

There’s a little snippet on Mark’s Instagram account and already I can tell this is a killer show.
