Hello friends,

There's something I've been curious about for a long time. Since I am far from the music industry, I have no idea. How are the musicians playing with Mark getting paid? Do they get percent from ticket revenues or do they have a flat fee per concert? Do the elements that joined later and the staff from the beginning get the same fee? For example, does Richard and Tom get the same income? I know it is a silly question, but I would appreciate it if the answers are answered. I wish everyone healthy days ...

Not sure that this is on a per concert basis, when I heard touring musician it is set on a time basis such as a weekly salary or a sum for whole the tour.
And you can even get contract where a musician agree to remain available for touring on the next 3 or 4 years.

As it is not a generally discussed matter so we know very little about it.

Certain loyal members may and deserve to be paid more; I would reckon this is why Mark invented the term, or position, of Musical Director for Guy.  Whether it actually means anything apart from a pay rise who knows.

Musicians are paid per week's when touring, it doesn't matter if they play 4 or 6 concerts, they get a fix salary per week.

And every musician has its cache, I bet the Nashville musicians in MK band are more expensive than the folkies, and probably Guy has the second highest salary as he's the musical director and MK right hand.

With that said, here in Russia as far as I know, a touring musician for a famous artist can easily make as much as a median month salary for each show, like $1-2 grand for a show.
So mathematically speaking, touring musicians aren't the wealthiest guys in the world, but man they certainly are the luckiest, especially if it's a major tour with jets and such.

UPD: the difference between the artist's salary and the musician is something like 50:1, so the artist's salary is 30-50 times more than this of a regular musician.

And you have to think that they don't have a salary for granted...

Musicians like Bennett, Worf, they work very frequently, but others maybe work once or twice per month, so even you get paid more than a regular worker, the amount of time you work doesn't makes you get more money than a regular worker.

I know a bassist and a drummer who play with some of the biggest musicians in Spain, and I mean BIGGEST really, and in between their records and tours, they don't have much work so they have to save money from the good times to live the rest of the time they don't get calls...
