Best recording from the OES tour?
« on: July 13, 2021, 10:34:48 PM »
Which recording from the OES tour do you feel is the best, or, strikes the best balance between performance and audio quality?

I'm listening to an audience recording from Rotterdam right now, and the audio quality is awful.

There are some from the US leg that sounds very good and has a good set, but cant remember if it was Seattle, Dallas or which city was... check that leg of the tour.

Basel would be the first one I went for.

I'd second that, however it has a standard set.  Look to the N American leg for good sounding interesting shows.  Toronto, New York, East Rutherford, LA (2nd night) and Oakland (2nd night) are all good shows IMHO.

Soundwise, Basel 1992, of course. However, Seattle 1992 has a very balanced audio quality, taking into account it's a bootleg. Contains songs played less often, such as Fade to Black and Planet of New Orleans. Tunnel of Love is also present.

Oh yes! First thought: Basel on June 28. A great Sunday evening. I was sitting in front of the TV mesmerized.

Here in the UK Channel 4 cut it to bits, even editing out Danny's moment in CE!

Yes, Basel is good, but I know it too well. I'll check out some of your other suggestions.

Always felt that show sounded quite tired and too rehearsed myself, akin to the Sydney '86 show in some respects.

It was on Sky here live and in full.

I didn’t have Sky but my friend who did taped it for me. I even bought him a special fancy vhs tape.

Played it to death.

Their is a soundboard on Amazon music. It doesn’t say where it’s from and it’s not complete but it does have Sultans and Telegraph. They both sound fantastic. The album is called Across The Forbidden Path for some reason. I’m not on the tracker but I’m sure it’s well known and most of you will have heard it before.
