Yeah, definitely rangefinders are great if you have time to play with developing film etc. New D-SLR's are designed as lightweight and easy to use cameras with much better optical performance than any compact camera. I thought in Guy's case a nice little SLR would be perfect. You get your pictures immediately (especially important if you're on the road) and there's really no need to change lenses if you have a nice zoom.

Yes.  I use a leica M4 after many years of SLR use including a medium format Hasselblad but I wouldn't change my Leica for anything!

Yeah, the M7's are lovely - my M4 was made in 1967 and still looks like new!

Leica make digital M series cameras however and have just announced an M9 digital which I'm sure Guy could afford!

yeah lol my brother keeps talking about the M9 ,I am not into photography that much but I still like filmmaking and editing
