Hotels in London
« on: December 28, 2023, 02:10:52 PM »
I can search myself, so it is not really a question, more a "aaaaa its insanely expensive!" I have been to London before and I have never had much money, but it was still possible. Lucikly I earn more now, otherwise it would be impossible. I was there there "yesterday" to see Mark a the History festival, and felt like holding onto something when I realized that 2016 soon will be EIGHT year ago  :o

Yes, hotels in all the UK are way more expensive than ever, specially on Saturdays, can't say if Brexit has something to do but next year I have three travels to the UK planned, all of them involve a Saturday and is insane that usually a room hotel that cost 60 pounds on Friday, double the price or even more on Saturday and then go back to the cheap price on Sunday.

I recommend to check places like Travelodge, Premier Inn and chains like that, they are usually the best prices between the craziness of prices, including the usually cheaper B&B.

Thanks, will check them out  :) My first time to London was to a B&B with bathroom in the hallway. I didn't knew that, and once was enough! :lol On the few occations I travel now, I want nice hotels close to whatever it is, so its like "I will close my eyes and pay", but there is of course a limit.

During Covid, I thught that hotels would be cheaper when opening again, to attract customers. The business lost a lot, and I get that they need income. The oppsite happened all over; the prices went higher. I guess Brexit made this even worse in the UK. Would I stay longer at a hotel if it was cheaper? Yes. Would I travel more often? Yes. I don't get their logic.

Travelodge and Premier Inn are always basic but clean, well staffed and generally fine.

Last time I had need to stay in London (6months or so ago) I looked at hotels in the suburbs which seemed a lot cheaper. Ended up in a travel lodge in Croydon. Think we got that fir something like £49 a night on a deal.

If you're really stuck there's also a healthy network of hostels.
