A nice thought Val but I would assume that the fact that it's a charity single isn't  the main or even one of the factors they take into account when deciding on playlist status. First and foremost it has to be a catchy and therefore "radio friendly" song, and Remembrance Day isn't really that type of track. To be fair, they have shown in the past that when MK does release a catchy track they will back him, look at What It Is, Sailing to Philadelphia and This Is us, all of them got lots of play on Radio 2.

Seeing as neither Sky or the BBC bothered to reply to my emails, I just emailed teh Royal British Legion to ask if it will be televised. Hopefully they are better organised than the BBC, who I pay for.

The BBC are scheduled to cover a memorial service from Westminster Abbey on their main channel (BBC1) between 10am and 11:30am. So I don't think there is much chance of any extensive coverage of "Silence in the Square" by the BBC. Maybe a few seconds in a news bulletin is the best there will be.

Yes I know what you mean, dusty, about "Remembrance Day" but "Piper to the End" is a beautiful song and radio-friendly and they could have played it on Radio 2.  I think it is just as lovely, even more catchy imo, than "Black Swan Song" which has been on #1 playlist for some weeks!   I suppose Athlete are just more "cool" or "trendy" than MK for Radio 2 these days.  If it isn't given air-time, how are the general public going to hear it and donate to the charity?

I know they played "What it is", "STP", etc a lot, but "Border Reiver" didn't get much airplay.  :)

I think Piper to the End is an amazing song, but I have to be honest and say it even took a few listens to get under my skin. Also in Radio 2's defence, it's not being promoted as a single anyway.

I can't say I'm surprised that Border Reiver didn't get much airplay, not really a lot of love out there for "fiddle-dee-diddle-dee" music I think. To be fair, I don't think MK really cares much about this stuff, other than the fact that he wants as much money to go to the British Legion as possible.

By the way, Guy has just confirmed on his forum that they will be playing Remembrance Day just after 9am, so keep an eye on Sky News and News 24 then just in case.

Guy has now amended this to "around 10:30ish"

It's disappointing that the details regarding this performance have been so sketchy.  All we want is to see and hear the performance and somehow we don't even know what channel to put on and, if it wasn't for Guy's forum, the time either.  Even Guy wasn't sure of the time!  One would think this sort of info would be published on the official site/news site because it's bound to be shown somewhere but we seem to be left in the dark.

Nope. I've been flicking between BBC, ITV & SKY, but not even a mention :(
I wish i'd gone to London today now, as i'm actually on holiday this week, but i'm in bed with a bad chest infection, so was really hoping to have seen it on the tv.
Oh well. I'm sure some footage will turn up somewhere. It normally does.

Just found this.
Not much good i know, cos the pic is quite far away, plus you can't hear anything, but it's a live webcam (refreshed every 5 seconds)
of Trafalgar Sq.

Apparently BBC1, BBC HD and BBC News 24 are all showing the service in Westminster Abbey!  You'd think one of them would show Trafalgar Square.

They should play Lions too!

I'm sure a fan on the markknopler.com forum posted that they were intending to be in Trafalgar Square today and were hoping to video the performance. So maybe, just maybe.
