I was wondering when this forum would have openly changed its actual focus from the real Mark Knopfler.
That moment has arrived. It's a pity.

 ;D ;D ;D

This group has been widely open to whatever related to DS and MK since the start, specially now that MK seems to be completely retired, there are two options, keep talking about anything related or shut down the forum.

Correct, MK's career is moribund so the forum will go the same way, it's kind of inevitable really.

I saw Oasis in 1997 and I don't think I've ever been as disappointed. They were very boring, just stood there, yawn. And that was coming from a Dire Straits fan, ha.

Oasis?? My word Dusty I thought you liked music??!! Just don't see the appeal myself....

In fact, there is the proper section "Almost Straits", as it's already been said. Not effective enough for commercial purpose, though.

Jeez man. They are friends of mine. I make no money from recommending them. They're the best at what they do in my opinion.
Actually I think they are doing something right if one or two people get so angry about them.

We've already established that this forum is moribund so I doubt posting about them anywhere on here is going to result in a big pay day.

I mean we are talking about 28 years ago... I was in my late teens and thought the first two albums and all the singles were great. Then they went crap with Be Here Now, but had a few more decent hits in about 2005 or so.

When you see the setlists on their recent tour and the massive crowd singalongs you can't deny that at the very least they were a great singles band. No interest in seeing them again now but they are bringing a lot of joy to people so good luck to them.

I disagree with such an apocalyptic vision :) Facebook hasn't beaten the forum, so everything will be fine :) It all depends on the fans, but I would expand the forum to include topics related to Dire Straits.

For a minute it turned into an interesting discussion about ticket prices.

Between 55 and 63 euros in Oslo. Not unreasonable at all.

It depends, you have to consider the costs of the show. Good bands have a better equipment and a better show in terms of sound, light and quality of the musicians, also the venues had to be paid, all of that affect the ticket price.
I agree. Therefor I find the prising in Oslo quite fair.

Funny how the complaint from two forum members killed the topic stone dead.

Because the topic has fallen to the bottom and is not visible.

I didn't see the DS Experience ensemble, but I was at the very first concert of "The Straits" at the Royal Albert Hall, which was the first incarnation of this band, as Terence Reis was the guitar and singer, and Chris White was there too.

I have to say that Terence Reis IS VERY GOOD.

Alan Clark and Phil Palmer were there two, that in the end would form DS Legacy, and althought they are very good, the main guitar player and singer is not. And as a band they lack of something, actually they are worth just for the moments Clark and Palmer are in the spotlight of the songs.

So, as Chris Whitten say, if DS Experience are playing close to you, seems you are going to enjoy the best show from the bands with ex members.

I did lack of motivation to attend saturday night in a good sounding venue.

If there are living near Bordeaux, you should consider as the Arkea sounds great.
