COMMUNIQUE TOUR
« on: December 20, 2009, 01:48:31 AM »
I have a communique tour booklet from 1979.  It is wonderful to read with a long story and biography in it. Has anyone else seen this before?
Below is a quote I thought was great.
"Pick is delighted when a fan shows him an old album by SPRING - a band in which Pick was the drummer.  Pick tells the band this is a collectors item and Mark dryly asks, Then why does it have a discount sticker on the back? There is laughter all around."

The final passage says,
"Sitting with the Knopflers in their small dressing rom, waiting for the crowd outside to fade, I decide that I do not want to ask for a Mark Knopfler interview.  He is already giving so much.

The first official tourbook of Dire Straits.  16 pages.

I wonder how many people still have a copy.  Communique is my favourite DS album too.   Thanks, Banjo!

"He is already giving so much"    -    He still is, 30 years on!   We are such fortunate fans!   :)

In my die-hard collector period of time I was lucky enough to buy all the tour books, and this was one of the most difficult to find...

And it was the first tour book to be edited, for the first record there is only few adverts in newspapers with fragments of the tour.
You might get lucky, now and then

I have the tour booklets from every tour since communique. Athough i bought the communique & Making Movies ones from Ebay a few years ago.
I absolutely love looking at them. And i agree, i particulaly love the communique one.
It's a pity that the tour for the 1st DS album didn't have a tour booklet. ???
