JJ has produced at least 9 LPs (his first 9 btw) of great music that I have been listening to for the last 25 years. Also he has been a great influence (apart from MK and EC) to all american music,  through the covers of his songs, from famous and multi platinum selling bands like  Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kansas, Dr. Hook, etc.
MKs covers are the closest to the JJ Cale sound these songs can get, since his guitar licks and his singing - wording are closer than anyone else's.

As for what one like and doesn't like, I find that my "barometer" for such things is the number of "spins" and the length of time I have given to the records. I dare say that DS records have received the most plays but it is hard to beat nowadays with all these things going in our lives as "grown ups", even if I constantly play only the MK solo records. That said I find the lyrics fine but I don't have any urge to break the code! They work fine in the back of my mind, forming their own stories using my personal knowledge and experiences.
Come on, it is not funny anymore.

I'm sure it's because he has six hamburgers and scotch all night!  ;D

To be fair, I remember having see this in the past several times - it seems studio work really has some disadvantages... but also, he looked great when the Privateering tour started. So I guess he is busy trying to get in shape before he gets out again..
I find it funny that all recent interviews since at least seven or more years take place at the BG desk... like he gives a hearing... no wonder he hardly moves at all...  :smack ;D

I've noticed that too.  They just sit around drinking "tea."  He should have built a gym at BG!  ;D

Hey, Klaas!!
Thank you very much, very cool to have the complete tracks already!!

Still not too impressed by Train To Nowhere, I still find it quite boring and repetitive...

Cajun Moon one of my all time favourite JJ  songs, and this cover version beats them all imho:

Many thanks Klaas!    I think that "Train to Nowhere" may need a few spins before I can give a proper opinion.  I think it may be a song that grows, unlike "Someday" which I loved immediately.   One good thing about both of these songs is that they can't be compared to JJ's version and that is a good thing imo.   Sometimes these growers are the ones that become favourites - we shall see!   :)

Thanks Klaas!

Btw, you're all crazy blues haters! ;)

"Train to nowhere" sticks immediately and is the best one on the album!  :clap

No I'm not!

Funnily enough, I was about to write that everybody who wrote something bad about the blues tracks on Privateering (which I love all), really can put these lines exactly into this thread... but then again, why should I stress out so much that I think this is a weak track...  :D :D :D :wave

BR - I'm definitely not a blues hater!   I love all of the tracks on Privateering, especially the bluesy ones!
