Ah that is correct then what my Paul Weller fan friend said to me a while back then! As he mentioned to me that MK had been seen with Jools and Paul Weller filming Later....

Episode is screened Saturday 25th May at 10.25pm

MK did a lot of promo for the ODR album that still goes on but he never had a guitar in his hands. In former times an interview was followed by a live perfomance presenting one song (or two).

Why not now? Is it due to health problems that do not enable him to play a tune live?
I mean, It can't be his general farewell to live touring.

I'd say so....

The real reason - not the Covid thing.

I think it's plain to see how he's been more and more struggling to play, and that's been going on for years. It was visible even during the last tour, or even before that.
If he wanted to reveal any details, he could long have done so, or maybe he will one day. But for me it's perfectly fine if he doesn't, because it's a private and personal thing even for a "celebrity".
He gets my full respect and admiration not only for the music he creates, but also for going on, adapting and finding new ways of being creative and inspiring to a lot of people.

Real reason? He is almost 75 and can't play live anymore.

The real reason - not the Covid thing.

He's been telling he struggles to play, and also he's not in form enough to keep touring and rather been at home, that he can't do it anymore physically. In different interviews each bit.

Abou the real reason, if there is any, that's very personal and should remain as that.

Folks, whats the real reason? Like him, you don't say it either. His back or what?

I know there is talk about health, but I don't have any information.

Don't think so, he's there to promote a new record and a new ep, not to make a statement, even is Jools who asks, he would give the same answer from all the previous interviews.

Nobody has any information, and that's the way he wishes it to be.

Age, back troubles, arthritis etc. are all good reasons for not touring.
There may be some other issue, additionally, that makes playing difficult for him. We will never know, unless he chooses to talk about it.

Nice little chat with Jools with Jools asking a few usual questions and usual answers!

Utter bollocks man.
He always takes a moment to answer questions which doesn't make for great telly.
Nobody who has health issues is going to "get better" in their mid 70s.
If he was so poorly he wouldn't be able to do any promo.
Whatever is wrong with him is none of our business and to speculate on it(seemingly every day on this forum) is frankly rather pathetic.

Searching on the net I came across "Waterbound", MK with Jools from November 2018 - never heard it before. What a beautiful song!

Watch the interview with him and Ed Bicknell in Sydney 85, it’s like having your teeth pulled out. That would be more fun, he is what he is. Why are we worried about a 74 year old getting old. We’re all heading that way. Unless I find the fountain of youth.

I think it’s a Mike McGoldrick song from his 2010 album Aurora. Interesting if Mark has chosen to cover it!

Me either!
That's how he is. He always took his time to answer a question. Even when he was younger. I think that's better than someone who talks a lot and only comes out with nonsense.
It's interesting how we see things differently.
Apart from that I have the feeling Mark really is enjoying the Interviews and all the attention he gets since the release of ODR and he really deserves it!

The Dirk Powell "Waterbound" is a different song.

I saw Dirk perform the song at Transatlantic Sessions a few years ago and it was really beautiful, but MK's version is extra special!  :)

This video was from 2009.  The one I saw was much later - around five years ago at The Sage, Gateshead, but just as beautiful.   I really enjoy listening to all versions - MK, Ruth, Mike and, of course, Dirk Powell, who wrote the song.

Me neither. In fact MK is far from empty, he has so much to say which was actually evident at the ODR Promo event in London. Unfortunately time was a factor otherwise we'd still be there!!!
