I was very lucky in 2008 to be the runner up in a Guy Fletcher comp (Winner was Waterline Man)
I won a ticket to the venue of my choice, & a M&G. ;D :o
I went to see him at Newcastle, and was lucky enough to go backstage before the gig.
I got 2 handshakes and an autograph.
I count myself very lucky!!!
No photo with Mark was allowed though. (PC announced this at the start) :-\
I will cherish that very special moment for the rest of my life. A true dream come true. :)
Guy also arranged for me an aftershow party pass in Newcastle, which i couldn't attend, so he sorted it for me at the RAH instead. But like Ingrid said, everyone was there, except Mark. (Think he had a cold that night).

Cheers   BBB
And a crowd of young boys they're fooling around in the corner
Drunk and dressed in their best brown baggies and their platform soles.

Thanks, LE and SuperVal. It was a great time, at least for me.
All the guys were pretty nice. I'd met Guy at Red Rocks two nights before for just a second. In the 2008 tour, I ran across Guy, Richard, Matt and Danny and talked with them for several minutes, and they were all unbelievably nice again.
Glenn was exceptionally nice in 2005 at Vegas, the only time I met him. We talked about MK for probably five minutes. He sounded like a big fan himself. We were talking about the night before, in Salt Lake City, when MK messed up the words on Telegraph Road. We were both surprised he did, but then not that surprised when you think of all the intricate lyrics and music he has to keep in his head every night. Glenn said he could never do that. I really enjoyed the long conversation with Glenn. Most guys would just go off and talk to someone else, but he kept talking with me.
I also met Guy's wife that '05 night. She was really nice, too.

I have been lucky enough to have met both MK & CR & if you were to ask me which of them was the most approachable I would have to say it was CR. I had met him previously in 2006,when he posed for a picture with me but I went to see him in Dublin in 2008 on the road to hell & back tour & when the gig finished we went around to the stage door with about another 100 people,Chris came out after a while & signed a few autographs etc but there was no way he could have signed everything for everyone & he apologised for not being able to do so - some guy even gave him some songs that he had written for him to look at ::)I suppose everyone has an off day but I must admit I have always found CR to be courteous.
In relation to MK,I think he's been there done that & although he loves writing & performing he's sick of the publicity that goes with it,the media / fan  thing is a pain in the a***e to him more than anything at this stage. If you look at his interviews he looks uncomfortable & from his body language he'd rather be somewhere else .As Guy said the meen'n'greets were for invited guests & competition winners & if you look at it the meet'n'greets didnt happen (for competition winners) unless there was invited guests (ie the sponsors) there - I'll take Dublin for example,no meet'n'greets for any of the past tours!!! I agree that MK could be a bit more curtious to the die harders that stand outside venues for an autograph in the wind & rain but the way he probably looks at it is that he provides music & its our choice as to whether we buy it,go to the gigs & stand outside in the rain but we just have to realise that he will make up his own mind as to what he wants to do. All along I have thought that PC was a bit OTT but as time has gone by I have come to realise that he is only doing what he has been told by MK,which cant be an easy task either :o :o

I knew Fieneke would jump on that one!  ;D

Dear Self Appointed President of the Fletcherettes, you were right!  ;D We all need some fun and a good laugh, especial now we all get excited about the start of the tour in a few days!  :P

Dear Knopfling, what a beautiful picture you showed us! I LOVE it and you all look wonderful! I can imagine how you felt standing there between those men! .......I am not sure IF I could say something whenever I would meet them because of the nerves and language! LOL I sure would be afraid to say something wrong or stupid, while I know that the guys are very nice and modest!

Waterline Man, I agree with the things you said!  ;)

I just wanted to take a picture of the guys together and never would have asked them to pose with me, but Matt's stepdad insisted on me getting into the group and letting him take the picture. I'm so glad he did.
Fieneke, I can't believe I haven't sent that picture to you before. All the guys were very easy to approach and talk with, so I don't think you'd have any problem. I'm sure they're used to people whose native language isn't English since they tour much of the world. I was just so pleased by Glenn because he kept bringing up new topics and keeping the conversation going when I'd have been happy with "hello."

Linda,

How Lucky you were to pose with those legendary band members !!  It was a great picture.  I would be thrilled to meet and say "hello" to them.  Most thrilled of course to meet MK.  How did you manage to meet them ?

BTW, Glen looks very tall.

Sweet, yes, I felt quite lucky to be able to meet them.
The reason all the families of the band members were out in the hallway that night was that they were supposed to go upstairs to a meet-and-greet, but it was canceled, so the band members came out into the hallway to see their friends and family. I just happened to be standing around there before the concert because the entrance to the upstairs and backstage was there. They've remodeled the place now, so I don't know if those opportunities would still be there.
In the 2008 tour, Guy, Danny, Richard and Matt came out into the casino several hours before the concert, and no one recognized them but me.
Yes, Glenn is fairly tall. I am 5-foot-9, so I'm guessing he's maybe around 6-4 or 6-5.

I have never even come close to meeting MK or any of the band members.  When I see them on May 7, I will have front row center seats for the very first time.  I can't even imagine how I'm going to feel being that close to him.  I'm sure I'll be on another galaxy for two hours :P :P :P

(I'll try not to embarrass myself by drooling in public :-[ :-[)
It's hard sometimes but pretty much it's alright

JoanZimm, I've never had front-row center seats, so I am jealous. I had front row way to the side in front of a speaker once, in '08, and that was great. May 7 is my best friend's birthday, so I'm sure it will be a great day. ENJOY!

During my two 2008 shows it was the first time that I was really in the middle of the bunch of people in front of the stage. In fact I was directly under
his microphone in Munich and Hamburg, and I had rather a view of his boots than of the rest of him... :lol

This time, I am sitting in the first row for the first time, also, in Hamburg again. I am sure it will be great! Basically because I do not have to keep watching when it is time to rush in front of the stage from let's say, row 8 or something, but BEING THE FIRST ONE TO RUSH this time, my plan is to start a first try after the third song! ;D

So expectations are high and the strategy is worked out!

Picture was taken by our Maggie, I hope she doesn't mind that I use it!
