Knebworth releases
« on: April 06, 2010, 09:12:39 PM »
The other day I noticed some new Straits songs on Spotify, namely Love You Too Much and MFN from Knebworth. On Amazon there are a couple of releases too, though none of them with MFN included.

http://www.amazon.com/Knebworth-Album-2-CD-SET/dp/B000E1AHNK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1270580844&sr=8-2

Anyone seen this? I know it's been available on video before.

Yup, I have it too. :)

Funny thing, on the original TV broadcast it was billed as Mark Knopfler, but it's down as Dire Straits on the CD.

By coincidence, my Knebworth cassette (french radio broadcast) appeared out of my mess last Saturday.
I listened a few minutes and I also noticed that it was MK and not DS.

I guess the idea was to highlight the Supergroup MK, EC & Elton John.

On live radio broadcast it was also announced as MK.

My opinion is DS + EC + EJ decided to call themselves Supergroup which sounded "nicer" than DS + guest stars.
But Supergroup means ... nothing. And some people couldn't decide if they had to announce MK or DS.
Especially if you wanted to sell something, better call it Dire Straits.

Hey,

Think I Love You Too Much as well as MFN are available as mp3 download:

Rather a weak version of MFN I'd say...  ::)

Funny you should say that. It's my favourite version of MFN ;)

Thanks for the hint and the link. I never had "I think I love you too much" in a proper version. Nice to put it into my library in an official mixed version and
not from old audio tapes or bootlegs.

I don't like all those versions with Clapton, supergroups, whatever. The original on BIA has its special sound and feeling and the live versions are generally much more energetic. This doesn't do it for me.
