Oh dear - it seems that crime does pay! In another sport a 'goal' would have been given for blatent cheating but the Uruguayans got away with it.

I have mixed feelings about that, on the one hand it is cheating and that was a sure goal otherwise, but I know if I had been in his place, I would have done exactly the same thing. It's a reflex, you don't have time to think.

I admired the player from Ghana who missed that last second penalty and then got himself together and shot in the top corner in the shoot-out. I felt very sorry for him at the end. He's gonna have nightmares for years about that miss.

Now, come on Germany this afternoon!!!

I agree it can be instinctive but it would only be fair to allow a goal (I know that can't happen unless there is a rule change this is all hypothesis) as it would most likely have gone in had he not stopped it. perhaps the penalties are not as harsh - a longer ban may be the only answer.

Another bunch of dirty rotten cheating scoundrels sent packing:-)

Fantastic performance by the Germans and so clean and well executed too. I want them now to go on and win it as they play football as it is meant to be played. Probably my favourite game of the tournament so far.

Oh, and that means England, on paper are better than Argentina - we managed a goal (or 2!) against the Germans:-)  - maybe Maradonna will come over here for some coaching lessons to see how it can be done.

Actually i have had another look at the handball and it wasn't just a reflex in my opinion. He nearly dislocated his body to do it - it was not like it was going past him and he stuck his hand out - it was a violent movement to intercept.

Yeah, they were great!  8) 8) 8) 8) Will be a loooong and LOUD night here in Germany! My voice however is a little bit damaged now.  :lol  Couldn't believe how well this team played! Who needs a cheat slip for penalty shoot-out anyway?

Now Spain and then beating the Netherlands in the final!

sad day for me and for all argentians citizens, this german team is incredible, the play fast and slow when its requiered, they are a real team, in the other side Argentina no, we are onle 11 players trying to score with no team sense

Go paraguay, and uruguay now, the only 2 southamerican teams left!

Uruguay stole the game, Ghana should have been qualified.

Rule should be changed, if a player other than the goal keeper use hands to prevent the ball to enter then no penalty but validated goal instead like for Basket Ball.

Fantastic Germany team today - nothing to say.

And  a penalty try awarded in Rugby Union. it make sense and is the only way to stop down and out cheating.

I'm actually happy for Uruguay. Ghana had its chance shortly before the game ended but that guy missed the penalty  ;D
As for the German team, wow!!  :o That was one hell of a game. I missed the first goal, I was in Frankfurt with a friend and we wanted to watch the game at a bar but it was too hot and crowded so we decided to go to her place. We were just five minutes late and thought, oh so what, nothing will happen during the first five mins... But then we heard the neighbours cheer  :o
The game was so thrilling I had to cover my eyes sometimes  ;D

Now I want them to make it into the final. And I want them to win the cup, they deserve it. Kudos to Joachim L
