Lately I have posted a question on the tracker for early Dire Straits recordings.


Naam:   Looking for different shows between 1978-1985

Ja Maarten, dat weet ik , ik wacht het rustig af. Wat ik egenlijk wilde zeggen dat het toch na zo'n lange tijd toch nog mogelijk is dat iemand interessante informatiebronnen heeft. In de begindagen was Dire Straits zeer geliefd en gezien in Nederland. Het lijkt me sterk als er niet meer opname's gemaakt zijn. Ook de mogelijkheid dat sommige demo's die ooit opgenomen zijn en die nog nooit uitgebracht zijn, kunnen ineens uitgegeven worden. Kijk maar naar Live at the BBC uit 1995 met de song what the matter Baby? Tot aan 1995 was het geen officiele track.

er zijn nog TONNEN tapes en opnames "out there"
geloof me, vorige maand is bv nog een tape van een floyd concert uit 67 "ge-released", tot dan werd die "gehoarded"
een heleboel daarvan gaat onherroepelijk verloren, maar het een en ander komt altijd weer boven water.

Does anyone know the set list for may 29th,1992 ? Just to know of Iron Hand was played and maybe sitting in the vault with dust somewhere, along with SOS, tol, tr, twl, itilytm, ftb,wicty....

I have to admit that. before buying these two cd digipacks of Amsterdam never paid much attention to any of these Amsterdam shows, and have to say that Amsterdam 78 is very good with very early versions of the Communique songs, probably even before they demoed them, and the Amsterdam 79 have so exciting and energetic versions of songs like "Angel of mercy" which is so rocking that is linked with Solid rock, and it is still more rockier than Solid Rock!
