It has a haunting atmosphere similar to Camerado in a way. I really like transition to a major chord in the chorus in place where you would normally expect a minor. Brilliant songwriting again
I really agree! I love that haunting atmosphere Mark has created in the wonderful
Redbud Tree, in the same way he did in
Camerado... The guitarplaying reminds me of his earliest days, and the lyrics, when you think about the story behind, is, as always, stunning. I love this kind of songwriting, when it's based on stories and characters, because Mark manage to recreate the feeling and atmosphere. I'd say the guitar solo is quite "long" compared to what we have had on the last records, which of course is great. Whether the original song is longer or not is hard to say, but it feels a bit short. Only one and a half verse, no bridge and no outro solo. It could go on for a couple of minutes I suppose... However, if that is the case, I got to say that I really don't see the point in, or like, radio edits. It's like a TV channel only screening the first 2/3 of a movie, or a gallery presenting only half of da Vinci's
Mona Lisa. That never happens... Music is art, and I believe that a song has a beginning and and end for a reason. You can't just take out a verse or a solo, just to play commercials instead. It's not fair against the artist... The again, radio edit or not, I love
Redbud Tree, and I've got to say that this is very promising for what we will get in September, not to say live in 2013
