Go, Love for me is a great nod back to the slower numbers on the early DS albums. Like Lions, Follow Me Home, etc. I loved those moody pieces way back when and still do. Just wish Mark would have played the lead guitar on a Strat.

I don't know where all this love is coming from for the song Go, Love though.  I think it's the worst on the record;  simple, cheesy, unoriginal lyrics and a deathly slow pace.  It's chronic.

For me is the melody, the music... the lyrics sound like MK is playing with words, with the rhyme between them, playing with one simple idea "I

Yes, the song " Go, Love " and also " Redbud Tree " is a little journey back to the Straits days. This type of songs on Mark's albums has always a huge appeal to me.  ;D

It's also important for me, that a MK record has some speedy and rocking tunes. Just to mention a few, songs like " Speedway ", " Don't You Get It " and " Punish The Monkey ". Another example is " Corned Beef City " on the new release.  ;)

" and it's your face I'm looking for on every street "

I don't see the similarities I'm afraid.  However, I never was particularly fond of Lions.

FMH was one of his early mood pieces that always capture me.  PONO is the masterpiece of this art though.

What a shame...............For me it's in top five on disc one.  :)

1) GO, Love
2) Yon Two Crows
3) Redbud Tree
4) Corned Beef City
5) Privateering

( Haul Away is fantastic too )

Here after some weeks listening, I rarely listen to the four songs who isn't mentioned here.  ;)

Next you'll be telling me how great Long Highway is! ;D

As for me, the piece is the legitimate son of Rudiger with Your own sweet way, also songs with a very moody approach.

That line, "hunted down ..." is one of my favourite album intro lines ever. Just the way he sings "... ferns and grass"

It's definitely written from the perspective of a homeless person, no? Both ironic and tragic at the same time. The bittersweet music suits it perfectly. Wonderful song.

My favourite tracks from the album in order are as follows:

*Dream of the Drowned Submariner - a submariner and his last fading thoughts/memories
*Redbud Tree -  a tramp/homeless person on a downer in life...(Great Strat sound!)
*I used to could -  a motorhead looking back on his days driving his GMC Cannonball (Truck)
*Corned Beef City' - a guy looking for a job in these hard economic times
*Privateering - The trials and tribulations of being a privateer
*Yon two crows - An account of sheparding in all weathers
*Seattle -  two lovers look back on themselves (Nice Strat again!)
*Bluebird - About a down on luck farmer

I actually dont really have any favourites as they are all marvellous but I guess I have these listed which I listen to and play along to too!!
* Mark Knopfler - NOT just a hobby, but a way of life!

* Owner of Two Fender 'Mark Knopfler' Signature Series Stratocaster's (SE00616 & SE03805) both with signed Fender labels after meeting MK at Bridport, Dorset UK on the 27/09/2013!
