Mark's guitar choices in latest shows
« on: October 20, 2008, 04:02:50 AM »
I'm curious which guitars Mark was using on certain songs in his last tour. I know he switches between his red signature Strat, his Les Paul, the National, and maybe the Pensa but do you guys know which songs he predominatly plays which guitar on?  thanks for any help! :)

OK, here they are:

Cannibals - Schecter Tele
Why aye man - Les Paul
What it is - Sig Strat
Sailing to Philadelphia - Sig Strat
True love will never fade - Sig Strat
The fish and the bird - National
Hill farmer's blues - Les Paul
Romeo and Juliet - National/Sig Strat
Sultans of swing - Sig Strat
Marbletown - Martin HD40MK
Secondary Waltz - Martin HD40MK
Daddy's Gone to Knoxville - Martin HD40MK
Done With Bonaparte - National
Song for Sonny Liston - Les Paul
Postcards from Paraguay - Sig Strat
Speedway at Nazareth - Les Paul
Telegraph road - National/Sig Strat
Brothers in arms - Les Paul
Our Shangri-la - 1954 "Jurassic" Strat
So far away - 1954 "Jurassic" Strat
Going home - Sig Strat

From memory, so apologies if there are any errors. In particular I can't quite remember if he used the "new" signature Martin on all those tracks.

Did MK utilize the new/old Hofner in any of the concerts, does anybody know? I had a chance to buy a 1963 Hofner, cherry red, which I think was just like MK's, but I didn't have the money at the time and I haven't been back to that shop to see if it's still there. In a perfect world, nobody will have wanted it until my income tax refund comes in....:(

No, he didn't. I'm not aware of him playing it anywhere, although it was in the promo shots and I think it was in the background on those video interviews on the BBC website last week.  :)

Thanks, Dusty. Maybe it didn't translate well to concert playability.
