Hi everyone

I've just treated myself to an MK signature SE11305 - Hot Rod Red.

I've been told the paint finish is ultra soft and that I need to be careful as it can easily get damaged. Is this correct?

Thanks all!

Yes, it scratches so easily... Which brings the question — how Mark keep his signatures in such a great shape after all these years? Polycoat?

I've seen MK Sigs sold with a Tolex/Orange case and others with a black/black type. Is there a correct type for the model?

TIA

"Soft" is not the expression- "fragile" or "delicate" are better descriptions

Mine's got 4 little chips out of the top/edges and a "scrape" of chips on the back which happened when I was changing strings and it brushed against a metal chair leg

Dropping a jack plug on it when you are disconnecting the cable is enough to chip the surface !  :smack
When you point your finger 'cause your plan fell through you've got 3 more fingers pointing back at you.

I would call it "brittle" :)

Mine has a few chips around the neck pocket, happened when I took off the neck.

Not an expert but it doesn't appear to be a "proper" nitro finish like a good Gibson or a Vintage Fender...

Not the first time I see MK Strat necks or bodies with a date stamped on it saying "August". Is this is a coincidence?

Hi guys, I've owned 3 Knopfler Strats! The only one I still own is a beautiful brand new one from 2010.
The only strange thing is the serial #...V194043...
V194043 ongraved on neck plate
V194043 on the official tag...
Guitar purchased in 2011 from an official Fender dealer...

Now that IS strange! Nothing about the serial number fits in what we know. You should email fender and ask about it. They have been very informative with a few other questions I have asked them based on a serial number in the past. As far as I know, the V usually stands for a vintage series.

Inspevtor: V.V.

The guitar has something to do with V for sure! Are you sure it's not Custom Shop or something?

I'm pretty sure it's just a some kind of an error much like the wrong colour of the first batch of MK Strats. I think you should be happy owning not only MK Strat, but MK Strat bearing weird serial number :lol. Fender isn't perfect and I easily can imagine some worker slapping American Vintage serial number instead of SE Signature Series serial number on it just by mistake.
