Nice! What kind of steel are you playing? I have a 61 Fender Champ and a 63 Airline Rocket. :)

Ah, really sounded like lap.

Worth buying a lap, you can get a classic vintage model for not much money due to the fact nobody plays them. :)

Might look into that. Love Hawaiian music and Sacred Steel (gospel style).

Thanks, man.

Just regular slide playing with the neck pickup on the guitar in my avatar straight into my amp. It helps to pick close to the fretboard, even over the fretboard, and turn down the tone control a bit. Also make sure you use a lot of double stops and six-notes to indicate major 6 chords. I was tuned to open D, but it's also tune to D6 as well.

gorgeous tone and nice Ry Cooder touch  :thumbsup

I don't have your guitar skills nor your gear, this is why I play a rather basic rock style, even with slide :

Thank you. I don't really have great equipment, unless you think the Rivera amp is way up there. The Strat is just home-modded to hell and back   :)

I really like your Strat tone in the first clip. The rocking slide is cool too, although I personally prefer it a bit more laid back.

What software do you record with?

What I wanted to say is that you use "real" gear as amp and mic recording while I use amp and effect simulation with my Tonelab ST  :)
digital emulating is not the "real" deal and I would love to play on amp tubes and such gear, but I really like the sound of the Tonelab ST, at least far far better than my peavey sloid state amp...and also better for my family and neighbours  ;)

The tonelab ST has also the advantage to play the role of the soundcard direct in the PC via USB, therefore I don't need any recording gear

the software is Reaper : http://www.reaper.fm/

For the strat tone I used a Matchless DC30 with a Black 2x12 cab simulations, and adding an Univibe with slow modulation
For the slide, the same but without Univibe

That sounds really great! I used to use Line 6 stuff a lot. Gets you a long way, especially for home recording.

Yes, I've been in touch with Ramon Goose - a true disciple of Ry :) Very talented.

I'm considering swapping out my neck pickup for a replica of the Teisco Gold Foil pickup. Mojopickups in England makes for a reasonable price. So sweet sound.
