DS Reunion at Glastonbury?

I think that Ed said that a DS reunion was never discussed or even mentioned.

Despite all 'bad things' that involves the Instituition RRHOF, in my opinion, I think that Mark, David, John, Guy and a drummer (Pick would not be there anyway) should have played, at least, one song.
I think that Ed said something like: They should have played together for the fans.

If Mark was there, someone would did a proper introduction. Not that self-something that the guys did.

Would no harm for anyone.

The 2002 charity shows were as close as possible to a reunion. Even though it wasn't on the official headline, yet to me, it still was NHB and DS up on that stage.

I mean, MK, JI, GF along with CW. Who else was missing in that lineup for it to not have been Dire Straits?

A very fond memory to have. One of the best shows ("Save the baby") I've been to.

The Hall Of Fame thing was indicative of where DS are currently at.
Some of the sidemen are more desperate to cling on to their Straits connections than Mark and John are.

After seeing the farewell show to Ozzy and Sabbath, i start to imagine what a Mk final show at St.James park would look like! Sam Fender as guest artist, Sting, Eric Clapton? Would been interesting if MK was even a bit more like he's contemporaries in rock, having a final show for the fans atleast like at RHOF! But MK left DS behind in 92 and have never looked back! On a second note its sad to see all the great rock bands vanishing one by one!

I never expected that Mark would do a farewell show - it's not in his nature.  It was obvious to me that the 2019 tour was the final one.   I knew that he would retire quietly from touring without any fanfare.  I do, however,  look forward to hearing more new songs and recordings in the future.

There would be at least four months of microphone testing, and three weeks of rehearsal just for that one show.

I personally wouldn't be surprised at how complex they are.

Speaking of which, Chris what do you think of Danny Cummings taking over from Chad Cromwell mid tour in 2005? The tour started on 28th Feb 2005, Chad played up to 21st March 2005, then Danny took over from 1st April 2005.

No idea how much advance warning Danny received, or how many actual rehearsals he got with the band, but still pretty damn impressive in my opinion, even if he did know the structure of a handful of some of the songs from the OES tour.

I agree, it was more a question of the prospect of joining a world tour with a relatively complicated set in the middle, would you take something like that on (not for MK, obviously! Say, I don't know, Peter Gabriel or Paul Simon asked?)
