Mark about Aretha Franklin
« on: August 19, 2018, 03:57:03 PM »
We all mourn the loss of Aretha Franklin, Queen of Soul.  She gave so much to the world.

Her music will remain an inspiration, treasured by millions.  MK

I can't get rid of a feeling that obituaries written by Mark are being written by some sophisticated generic obituary phrases generator.

Mark has written obituaries for lots of people, including many who he hasn't worked with or performed, so I found it rather strange that when Liam O'Flynn died recently, in spite of having worked with him, he didn't do so.    :think

Exactly my feeling, too. Apart from a row of obituaries over the last years, nothing else really comes from this channel. "Brandnew" old video clips on YouTube maybe. With channel I mean the MK social media work in generell. One gets the feeling MK fears that no one will write about him when he's gone so he carries on with these two or three liners. He once was a journalist and definitely has a way with words, he could do better. Not only when somebody dies. Tell us about his new album for example. In his own words. That would be something.

Indeed, but I'm pretty sure he would've written a nice letter or made a phone call personally to those who really matter.  To me that is the classy way rather than these generic public statements or a quick tweet.

I hope he did.   That would have been much more sincere.   ;)
