RIP Ed King
« on: August 24, 2018, 12:12:04 AM »
He was the composer of one of the most famous riffs in rock history : Sweet Home Alabama

Ed King died toady.

He was kind to answer questions on his blog and it's from him that I learned many things about Lynyrd Skynryd, and about Sweet home Alabama in particular.

Of course, the song was  a response to Neil Young 's southern man and Alabama songs

But what Ed King said was that if you listen very careffully, you can hear "southern man..." rigth after the line "well I heard Neil young talk about her..." in sweet home Alabama.
It's very low in the mix, almost burried, but you can hear it

a great guitarist. he explained he dreamed his solo in the song, and the next day, he recorded it in studio

you know, all thoses legends of rock are old aged now, and well...its' sad but there will be more and more which will leave us
