MK's father - Erwin Knopfler and Chess article
« on: January 29, 2019, 07:32:59 AM »
Whilst researching about MK's Mother I came across this fascinating article about Erwin Knopfler: MK's late father...

https://www.chessscotland.com/documents/history/biographies/knopfler.htm
* Mark Knopfler - NOT just a hobby, but a way of life!

* Owner of Two Fender 'Mark Knopfler' Signature Series Stratocaster's (SE00616 & SE03805) both with signed Fender labels after meeting MK at Bridport, Dorset UK on the 27/09/2013!

Indeed a MAJOR find to say the least.  Cheers.  So much new, detailed, interesting and important information here!  WOW!!!

Ernö Knopfler?  As in Ernö Goldfinger?  :o

Just realised I walked along Norse Road when I photographed his old school, maybe even passed his house.

I think Mark resembles his father, especially when he was younger and thinner - around 1990.   ;)

Thanks, Knopflerfan!   :wave

Shame he was a communist. But looking on the bright side, Mark wouldn't exist if he wasn't...

Not really, unless someone still thinks, in 2019, that communism is viable. I don't think that's the case.

Thats politics. I strongly recommend you to delete that posts, I´ll do the same.

Me, I find it ofensive. And as me, there would be more people. The difference is that I don't care, but other will and that will start a hard discussion about politics.

It's not politics at all, it's reality. Communism is far gone, it would be politics if I'd mentioned something that actually exists such as socialism, liberalism or capitalism.

In the recent Spiegel interview Mark said that his father changed his mind about communism when he discovered more about Stalin

He also said he came from a poor working class background.  lol

Am I the only one who remember this information appeared a long ago?

I'd say it was here. Maybe was on Silverton blues forum but I doubt it as I don't go there on often..,
