I'm curious - what is the purpose of all these little clips you are posting?

It's safe to assume it's for the pleasure of having some feedback from knopfler afficionados.

I like the sound and I think the covers are well played but I'd rather listen to some improvisation.

You obviously can play, but there are hundreds of people who can copy Mark. There is nothing more to say about it than "well done", but if I want to hear a Mark solo, I'll play the original record. Do you know what I mean?

Create something original, man. Use what you have learned from copying Mark's licks and solos and make it your own. You're from Algeria, I see. I'd love to hear you play some traditional Algerian music, but played in the style of Mark Knopfler. That would be amazing.

This kind of comments are really ridiculous and shouldn't even be allowed by moderators imo :thumbsdown :thumbsdown :thumbsdown

1) Classical musicians who 'copy' the same usual classical melodies are considered 100% artists and have worldwide tours
2) People who can copy famous guitarists like David Gilmour have worldwide tours, see Brit Floyd for example
3) "there are hundreds of people who can copy Mark" ? Really ? LOL
4) You are the one who should do something else, you don't want to listen to his solos ? then don't listen to them and don't tell him what to do

Ghost,

Calm down a little?

It is actually an encouragement to the guy. I praise him for his playing.

And yes, every time I search YouTube for new Knopfler videos, there's always two or three new people in the search results who try to show how close to the original they sound. Why be just one of the many clones?

are you a guitarist or just a knopfler fan ? if you are not guitarist you should know that mark knopfler is not a simple guitarist ... it's not easy at all to replay his solos and songs with same right hand  and vibrato technics....

Nice try! I like that you are so determined with your left hand. Sadly most MK copyists are not, and therefore sound terrible. You sound fine. Nice tone, nice vibrato. If you want to sound a bit more like MK, you could  bend a bit slower, like you try to squeeze out the tone. And less reverb, please! ;) Maybe some delay instead.

Or you could do like this:

well done but, at 0:15 and 0:16 and 0:27, wrong notes you are starting with  :)
If I realised that the chances were slim,
How come I'm so surprised when the tide rolled in

there are obviously many things to fix, especially for a solo like this which is extremely difficult, but he is on the right path
