John Ilsley DVDs
« on: November 20, 2020, 01:54:01 PM »
I have just received John's 2 DVDs. Here is my feedback:
The "memory of Dire Straits" one is really fine, great picture, great sound, great performance without drums. I really love those quiet performances. You almost wonder why drums indeed exist. They really illustrate Mark's great funny statement in 2006: "it really takes a good drummer to be better than no drummer at all" !
- But the "Live at Brooks" one is less good. I'm not talking about the performance, which is great as usual, but the DVD itself. Picture is a bit blurry, sound is average, and above all, no menu, you dive directly into the concert, no track selection, and worse, when you press "next track", you are taken in the middle of the next song, not the begining ! Are these bugs known and common to all DVDs of this show, or mine is faulty ?  anybody has a copy of it ?

I think it's a shame they didn't include the interview part of the show in the dvd.

My copy of Live at Brooks does the same.
