Live-Vinyl-Records from Dire Straits Boys Productions.
« on: April 03, 2021, 09:35:33 PM »
Hello again to all Dire Straits Vinyl-Fans.
Before corona, i have visited some German record-fairs close to my hometown and, what a surprise, i found some unknown Dire Straits Bootleg-vinyls. They made my day on the record-fair.
The first record is the second part of an old Sheffield-concert from 1982, Part-II. The record itself is on clear vinyl, but it is not a factory-pressed vinyl record. It is a so called lathe-cut record. The source of the live-recording has an average sound-quality.
The second record is a pair of 10-Inch vinyls with the legendary Rockpalast gig from Cologne in 1979. Black lathe-cut vinyl records in very good sound-quality.
The label says Dire Straits Boys Productions.
Does somebody knows more about that label, are there some more concerts recorded and produced as Vinyl-Editions ??
The German trader on the record-fair told me, that he got those records from an Italian trader.
I gave Marc for his DSboots site my photos of covers and labels for more research.

Here i have grabbed some more Live LPs by Dire Straits-Boys-Productions, from the last record-fair in my hometown.
All records are lathe-cut-vinyls, clear-vinyl, limited editions.
Dire Straits - Live in Paris 17.6.1981 Part 1 and Part 2
Dire Straits - Live in Sheffield, 1.12.1982, Part-2
Dire Straits - Live in Edinburgh, 7.12.1982
Sound-quality is average till good listenable. To my knowledge produced in tiny quantities.

In collectors world, they are considered as the cd-r of vinyls...

I have no interest on any of them.
You might get lucky, now and then

Hi jbaent. Good explanation, but to me such records are more important than those CD-Rs, because that records have a very long life-span. They are playable for decades, if you take good care of them.
That is a much better investment as those cheap CD-R Discs.  8)
