Stargazer in Alchemy
« on: January 18, 2023, 05:40:42 PM »
last night I was listening to the Local Hero soundtrack and when hearing Stargazer after a billion times, I thought about the Alchemy version and had this thoughts :

the version we can hear at the beginning of Alchemy, and which was played at every 82-83 show I believe, is obviously a different version than the one on the soundtrack.

during years I thought that the drums we hear in this version were played live by Terry over Tommy's keyboard, but on the video we can see clearly that Terry isn't playing at that time, not even Tommy.

So the tune must have been re-recorded by the band, especially for the tour ?

I've always liked it. Great idea that they used Stargazer :)

ps. But why is it twice on Local Hero's - The Rocks and the Thunder  :think  :)

The rocks and the thunder si not the same melody as stargazer, it's the same as the rock and the water, and it's the intro to Going Home when performing live

Yes I know, I meant the same two titles on the album. It's rare.

not that rare on a soundtrack
you often ahev teh same music theme on film music

On A shot a t glory, Sons of scotland is twice too, and even a third time in "it's over"
on Cal, you have "the road" and "the long road"
etc...

No. Only Local Hero has two of the same titles. And these are the same compositions. The Rocks and the Thunder. :)
