To me, "Follow me home" is about his first mariage, the Oldfield book says it's from "Mark's past"

Songs that could be "dedicated" to Lourdes :

"quiet" ones : so far away, why worry, your latest trick
"angry" ones : your own sweet way, when it comes to you, fade to black, you and your friend...

No, no answer. She posted on facebook a couple of weeks ago, so she is using the account. It is not possible to post on her wall. I can send her another Messsenger, saying something like "sorry if you are not the right person" (already said that in the first one of course), but after that I'm not sure. Too invasive to track down the number? That is kind of a strange thing by the way, I remember that was the way you contacted people; finding their number. Now, that seems too much!

Do you think he wrote those angry Songs 3-4 years before their break up?

I think any more than one message is invasive to be honest. If she wants to respond, she'll respond.

There's of course the option that she doesn't get notified when she gets messages from strangers. I seem to remember Facebook has settings for that.

But yeah – pursuing this any further may seem a little intense  ;D

I don't know any details, but the official and public break-up is one thing, the "private one" is another thing...

They divorced in 1993, but I wouldn't find strange that things went already bad in 90-91 during the recordings of NHB and OES

pure speculation of course, but I can't see Mark writing songs about Holly Vincent in 90, so to me these songs are about Lourdes

You and Your Friend appears to be from the point of view of someone who wants to have an, um, menage a trois.

Not saying it's not autobiographical but seems the most likely of those mentioned to be fictional.

Or no one in particular. Or someone he read about.

Most of the OES album has a pretty dark vibe to it, not surprisingly influenced by Mark's personal situation at the time, but it doesn't mean any of the songs are specifically about Lourdes.

Yes I see what you means. Not specifically about the personn herself, but it's about Mark's mood at the time, which was of course influenced by his relationship with her...
So I'd say you have to read "between lines" as we say in french. When your relationship with your wife is not going well, and you write songs with a dark mood about a relationship that is not going well... you can say the song is not about the person, but ... hem...  ::) ;D

When it comes to you is for Lourdes pretty clear...

The song is about a person in a miserable relationship, which of course fits Mark's situation. On the other hand, the narrator is blaming the other person and shows no sign of guilt that he/she also may have contributed to the breakdown of the relationship, etc. Plus, because of the children they have together, I don't think Mark would have written, recorded and performed this type of song specifically about Lourdes. That would be cruel (to them).

I don't think so because in 1987 the twins were born and the song maybe written at last 1989/1990
So those lyrics 2 years after the twins were born?
Maybe not.
If the Song was on Golden Heart I could think of... hmmmm maybe yes
The OES Tour may be the reason
