When talking about small tools, here is one I use when I want to know what codecs/specs of a movie/video file:
GSpot
http://www.headbands.com/gspot/v26x/index.htm

can be found many places on the net. Nice little tools that tells you what

took me a while to find out how to work it, but then it is great

any Knopfler, Floyd or Dylan will do....

Uuuhhh I didn't understand much about all the things you all were talking about, except the words "Nero". That is the program for my CD/DVD burner also and I only burn and don't know what I can do more with it. ........Ooohhh there was also another word I understood ........OOOhhhhh Pottel!!!!!  :o  :-[  ;D
