In other news, do not want to start a new topic for this, John Illsley has released new tourdates. He will play four concerts in the Netherlands in december.

And this is related to the 25th anniversary of STP how exactly?  :lol

Do America is on the vynil, as far as I'm concerned, but there's no point buying that album again. no outtakes, no live tracks, why bother. and I'm also not a vynil aficcionado...!!!

Just for info, I received this morning a mail from my contact at Universal France about a release of STP on 26th september

its says : "Mark Knopfler's second album is reissued on transparent vinyl for the first time on the occasion of its 25th anniversary."

the track listing is the standard one with only 13 tracks : One more matinee, but no Do America

so, I'm afraid there will be no additionnal stuff...

I hope I'm wrong...

This whole anniversay business is just funny. I get making a deal of milestone albums such as BIA, but STP?

And by the way, Do America ... There's a filler if there ever was one  :thumbsdown

Why not? Good reason for a re-issue.

Can we expect Golden Heart again in 2026?  ;)

As it is the only one of Mark’s albums I don’t have on vinyl, I was hoping there might be a 20th anniversary reissue of All the Roadrunning in 2026, perhaps for Record Store Day as it is normally in April, and that is the month in which the album was originally released, so it would make sense.

My 2 cents:

1)
And by the way, Do America ... There's a filler if there ever was one  :thumbsdown

Mark probably didn't think so in 2000:

2000
... Titled for the new record announced as "Sailing to Philadelphia", with a selection of 25 songs of 29 in total recorded, to choose 15. Temtative date of release in May, but later delayed to September....

In accordance with the track listing of advanced (untitled) promo CD released for insiders in the end of 1999 or beginning of 2000 those 15 songs selected for the album were:

01 What It Is         5:35
02 Who's Your Baby      3:03
03 Baloney again      5:09
04 Silvertown Blues      6:00
05 Junkie Doll         4:33
06 Sailing To Philadelphia   5:28
07 Speedway At Nazareth   5:27
08 Do America         4:10
09 El Macho         5:28
10 Prairie Wedding      4:24
11 Red Staggerwing      5:27
12 Donkeytown         5:31
13 Wanderlust         3:51
14 The Last Laugh      3:20
15 One More Matinee      4:05

Do America was selected by MK in opposite to 10 another songs recorded.

2) I love this album, but hate the sound quality of original CD, DVD-Audio and terrible remaster ("The Studio Albums 1996-2004") by Miles Showell. Everybody talks about new Atmos mix of Brothers in Arms, but there is not any review of original CD mix on blu-ray. It sounds excellent. I assume (there are not any credits in sleeve notes) that is a new mastering (similar to a "flat" transfer) done by Guy from original digital master tape. I hope that the stereo mix of STP on blu-ray has a new mastering by Guy with better sound than on previously CD and DVD.

We shall see. In most cases remasters sound worse in my experience...

Anyway, my STP blu-ray should be here tomorrow.

Longer version of Silvertown Blues too.  I asked GF about this recently and he said he didn't recall there being any longer version of the song.

Yes, I remember. Guy Fletcher doesn't remember "What It Is" with the extra verse either. That's the Mexican release.

It's not exactly a Mexican release, as it was a promo, and was a mistake, someone sent to them the wrong version of "What it is" so it was released by mistake, not in purpose.

The only difference is that the tempo of this version is a bit faster than the one released in the Emmylou record.

"Donkeytown" is a totally different version, nicer than the one released in my opinion.

The rest of songs are in most cases different takes, very similar than the one released, but when you know the record bit by bit, you notive little things here and there, but nothing extraordinary.

Before you ask, I don't have it, but I was lucky enough to met someone with a copy that let me listen to it, the promo cd is extremately rare and difficult to find.
