Here is the original non edited demo version of Solid Rock!

"One, Two" on intro before "One, Two, Three, Four" and later fade out at the end, with more choruses

It's Mark's vocal in particular. So forced.

Actually is not a demo.

They recorded "Solid rock", "What's the matter baby" and "Twisting by the pool" at Pathway Studio to be released as single, prior to the Making Movies recording. Or at least that's what it's said in Michael Oldfield's book.

In the Arena documentary you can listen to that Twisting by the pool recording with a very weird videoclip, that probably was though to be used to promote it.

Probably Ed would say something about this, but I think he said before that book was crap, lol.

It's good that in the final version they gave up the backing vocals. ;)

Interestingly, on the OES tour 91/92, they used the melody from the backing vocals of the 1979 version and performed it in a duet with sax and guitar in the long final solo.🎸🎷
Let's go down to the waterline!

Since the early 80s (LOG tour?), they also used that melody during the song intro. Which works very well. Builds anticipation.
