any promo for any gig has to go through band management before being released. Worst case scenario the artist is sent it once it’s published or tagged on the post and can, at any time, ask to get it removed in case of misinformation.

I don't think this is true at all, especially in a foreign country, and especially for a band that isn't that popular like DSL. Taylor Swift's people can throw their weight around but not these guys.

This is more likely, but I'm not sure the guys in the band would know what was going on on Brazilian Tik Tok.

It’s surely on their contract. If they bother monitoring or not that’s another point. Considering they heavily benefit from the ‘ambiguity’ I don’t think they are very concerned about it.

Re Mark caring about it or not, I think a certain b-side he recorded a few years ago will give us a hint.

Exactly, Dusty, good point, very realistic.

A really cool B-side, by the way. It's a shame he only played it once, but if the intention was to send a message to DSL, the message was given and the DSL may have responded with a song. I hope Mark feels like he's being bothered again, this time with websites promoting DSL as DS, and he makes another excellent song like the one he released in 2015. I'll love hearing it. One thing's for sure: Every time tribute bands play DS songs, Mark probably makes money from it because there are certainly clauses for that, and fans of those songs who go to a DSL show can have the luxury of enjoying these songs performed by Alan Clark, an important part of DS's sound. I loved watching it myself, and I saw people really enjoying it, even those who thought they were playing Dire Straits without Mark Knopfler, well, patience. 🥱

We don't know what Mark thinks about this. What's his stance? Maybe he doesn't care. But he definitely knows Dammy Cummings is in this band ;)
MK wrote a song about it.
Terminal of tribute to.

That's why I wrote about Danny Cummings, who plays in this band and also records with MK. Nothing is black and white.

No it's not. I believe even John Illsley played a few gigs with them about 10 ago.

Nothing wrong with having a tribute band, everything wrong with promoting it as the real band.

i think everyone on here HAS made their point clear to all others on here. guess that is a nicer way rather than saying "boring"
i personally will now be checking other topics on here (and close this one in case it becomes too personal/insulting - which it is not yet)
any Knopfler, Floyd or Dylan will do....

I could also said that I have a Déjà Vu, but it's boring to even say that.

If there’s one thing I despise is people who don’t have the courage to say things directly.

Having said that, this whole site here is built around Mark Knopfler’s work and it surprises me very much how a topic like this, started to help protect this work, receives so much hate and neglect.

Probably people who never wrote a song nor created anything in any form of art. Just pass through, ignore it.

Things like this remind me of why I hadn’t posted anything in months here.
