There used to be a British TV comedy show called Harry Enfield and Chums. It had a character called Tim Nice But Dim and in one sketch he was playing a tennis racquet in his bedroom along to SOS. It was some different version. This must have been 10 years ago, it was discussed on the T-Road list at the time.
Also, does anyone want to know the details of how Eastbound Train ended up as the B-side? Well, I'll tell you.
It was recorded for this album, Live at The Hope and Anchor:
http://rateyourmusic.com/release/album/various_artists_f2/hope_and_anchor_front_row_festival/This album was recorded live at The Hope and Anchor in London between November and December 1977. Not sure when it was actually released, but I would say there is a good chance that this is the first time DS ever appeared on record.
My guess is that when they came to release Sultans as a single instead of using one of the other tracks from the album, they just used this live track that had already been recorded.
This album seems to be very, very rare, hardly any mention of it around the web.
But I bought a copy at a record fair in 1993.
