Acording the recordings and some Guy comments, they are having issues with bass sound, maybe it

Why a multi-million pound tour has sound problems is way beyond me. yet time and again we read about it or even worse, hear it!

And any attempt at an excuse is basically workmen blaming their tools. I don't mean simply the band I mean all concerned with the acoustics, sound checks, equipment etc.

Not really. We are in the 21st century and we have never had better or more reliable equipment. The venues are not new - some have existed for decades. Their acoustics haven't changed. Yet there are (or were) problems with the bass sound. That is what is absurd. It doesn't matter what the cause was or who is to 'blame' - it simply shouldn't happen and if anyone thinks is it acceptable that is fine - I don't.

Well, I did wonder what that sound at the beginning of STP was.   I thought I had messed up my recording.   I've been trying to fix the bass before uploading.  It's really overwhelming.  Maybe it wasn't my fault afterall.    The sound from 2010 04 17 Los Angeles sounds really clear and bright though.

The sound is going to vary from venue to venue no matter what technology is used or who is mixing the sound. That said, personally, I think the person behind the board (FOH sound engineer) has a lot to do with the sound quality, as I've seen two (non MK) bands play in the same venue a few months apart with different levels of sound quality. Standing in the same spot, one was definitely better than the other, and both were loud rock shows.

Exactly. The century or money doesn't matter. It's all about sound waves, and the sound doesn't get better than the room allows.

There is no excuse for poor sound at these venues - these guys have the choice of equipment at their fingertips - I just don't know what gives. Soundchecks should help iron this out - are we to believe that this is the same sound that is witnessed and accepted at the soundchecks? I would like to know what Mk thinks of the sound - would he accept it if he knew? I think not.

Sorry, just read most of this thread: It seems there is bad sound on this tour? Any proof or reference for this? All reviews I read so far and most of Isaac's blog aren't mentioning any bad sound? Some bass issues, yes, but bad sound over all?
Could you enlighten me?

No, no proof of bad sound at all!! :o All reports talk about great sound. :D I don't understand this discussion at all, even though I seem to be a part of it :) I'm just talking about sound in general, which I happen do know a lot about.

I attended 3 shows. Oakland, Santa Rosa, and Temecula.

Oakland I was on the balcony 5 rows away.  Quie a big venue compare to Santa Rosa and Temecula.  The sound was perfect.  Mark vocal came in nice and clear. The same goes to Santa Rosa and Temecula.  Row  E and C .  Sound came in perfectly in my ears.  But who am I to say, I'm neither a sound expert nor a musician for me to distingish the difference.  I 'm totally mesmerized by Mark and the band to notice anything.  everything was wonderful for me including staging lighting.
