Sometimes I think we need a TK here  :D

Maarten please,  I know this is "free" forum, but I really don't like to see topics like this here. I guess there are enough other places on the internet for people who like to discuss this topic.

My view is this:

I won't be contributing to this thread because it's on plenty of other forums to which I contribute, plus I've got enough politics in my life already.

BUT I have absolutely no problem with Pottell and other interested parties having this type of OT discussion if they like, this should be a free place.  :)

I have to throw my 2 cents worth in (as I did once or twice on the "other" forum):

If one is not interested in a thread, one does not have to read it! ;D

I love the fact that we have a more relaxed tone on this forum, not to mention the fact that this is going to be a GREAT FORUM! I love it here!

My vote is cast and I unabashedly declare my support for BARACK OBAMA!

Let the Republican National Convention begin.......
arse ;D

I agree with Dusty and Gayle. The reason I come here is because this place is uncensored. If the rules were the same as MKNews I wouldn't bother, I'd just stick with MKNews.

If we start saying what is and isn't a legitimate topic, even if it's based on majority opinion, then this place isn't "free". People can avoid what they don't want to read; I do this already.

I agree with Tommy, if you don't like politics just don't read it.
I didn't vote because I really don't have enough knowledge of the vision of both on all important items in politics. And I don't have the time to read more about it.

I won't be voting because I don't know enough about US politics, but I have no objection to the thread being here.  I agree that if you don't like it, don't read it!   :)

Once again, with my message ad nauseum:   As long as we don't get abusive to one another or the subject, whatever goes, goes.    Perhaps that's Waldo's concern also.  People do tend to go crazy on politics and religion, so only if we are careful--disagree--disagree strongly, but keep personal perjoratives out of it.

Iris has made a great point.  We all need to show respect for each other, which I think is there at the moment already.  And if there is a disagreement, we have too be quick to accept each other's opinions before fighting it out with words and letting it get out of hand.

Politics is one topic I simply do not discuss. I have been disheartened by the whole process, worldwide, for 30 years or better. And I haven't liked anyone in Washington since the 60s, from any side. (In case you think I have no right to gripe, however, I assure you I HAVE voted....although some of my write-in votes took my foster-mom, the town clerk, by surprise in my younger years.)

I think politics is very important for all our lives, a few politicians rule the world and make people live or die! Scary to me!  :-[

And, you may have read the RS interview with MK where he said ["...My father was a Hungarian Jew, and he did three jail sentences on political charges

I vote for Obama!   ;D At the other forum of my friend (for years) we have a political thread also and they all are Republicans! They all were so glad that Bush won 4 years ago, there wouldn't be a better president! Well look what happened! To safe his reputation a bit, it is perhaps necessary to find Osama Bin Laden and ............ I won't be surprised if they just find him before Election Day!  ;)

It is good to read that Obama has already 10 votes here and McCain doesn't have one (yet)! LOL

I would like to share this link (in case you didn't know about it yet). I got it from another friend and after watching a few video's, I think it is an interesting link for as well Democrats as Republicans. It seems to me independent.

I am reading about politics and try to watch CNN and the news as often as I can, although I know I never will be an expert, because I don

Most USA voters do not like the tough talk and the dirty politics either.  But the news media finds a way to keep it going.   :-\
