No, because i love also his solo stuff, I really like Privateering. I think it's more your own musical preferences saying this, isn't it?

Yes.  Simply because I love Mark doing what he does best and utilising his talent instead of wasting it. :)

Love Expresso it's in YT and it is from "Really" Album 1973 - you can listen to the full album

kaleo, i zapped thru the songs, to check if they've retitled it. But i could not find "someday". It's a mistery like "road to nowhere" ... But it's cool that Mark plays two misterious songs on that album.

yeah, kaleo thanks for helping but I have the cd and it is not on it... it is not listed in any JJ Cale discography and seems never been recorded by JJ. Maybe Mark really wrote it?

Is it just me or is Mark's vocal not very clear on the song?  ???

I agree with dmg, it' a pitty that Mark plays that style on covers, or on other artist contributions, and not on his own songs...

great tone, great playing, great laid back atmosphere...well it's typically THE kind of style/song/guitar tone that made us love Mark's music, right ?

JF, absolutely right! But the fusion from this kind of music with celtic roots, which is also something very elementary and typical of Mark (local hero / cal e.g.), is very interesting. The blending of different styles of music, the exploring and looking for new staff and inspiritation is something i would miss a lot. It makes Mark very special and i think all fans who followed this process (with up and downs) constantly are very special people too. I know, that it is not easy. I had my problems as well, like everybode here, i presume,
So i love the JJ Cale style of music (of course), but i can't imagine Mark playing for over 40 years the same kind of music. AND - I'm somehow shocked how easy it seems to be for Mark to play this kind of music. He is far beyond this level!

Fantastic song and version! Sounds very DS, and not just because of the obvious reasons :)

mark is not "far ahead" of this.
JJ was not an idol of his for nothing.
JJ was a master of doing the same shit for 40 yrs and still making it sound fresh.
and he was an awesomely kind man too, met him once, one of my most precious memories.
any Knopfler, Floyd or Dylan will do....

;) My take on the lyrics of this song. The mystery of who wrote it and if JJ played it still remains.... :think

Again MK is on form....
Love the strat sound (but then I would!) and the whole track rings so much MK to me...
Thanks Shangri-la for the lyrics as this enhances everything....
