Whatever he makes will be welcomed, even the long awaited farts album  ;D

With many musicians involved in this project, most of them are very familiar to us all :lol

Are you sure about that?    ;D   :lol

I don't think STP2 possible firstly because Mark since Communiqué do not repeat an album style and secondly because STP is not an album he was happy with. The real first solo album that IS Mark is TRD.

I always think that the first 'solo' album was Making Movies when production and leadership are in his hands,  with the band name, like Gilmour in the era post Momentary lapse.
Remember Ed said that Dire Straits is the vehicle for Mark's songs. The solo career begin after On every street that not had continued the Brothers in Arms success, after a long tour, when he was asked after a concert in Paris of that tour if all was done for money (remember 24 heures documentary) just above his hotel room.
When new bands like Gun's n Roses and Nirvana take success in the world I think that Mark had say ^stop' with long tours and continued played his music with much liberty only for us, his true fans!!

A nice topic/discussion going on springsteens forum about him and MK in the 80's. Perhaps he is also working with MK  :think

A Knopfler and Springsteen fan says that Liz Whatley told him that Mark couldn´t stand Springsteen by that time.

In that same thread.

The key is the word "musicians". We can discard a Rap album.

Damn!  :'(

So no whistles then, because I've read they're piss easy to play.
