It was the last day of summer... And I finally made a video on "Two Young Lovers"! This song includes Mark's signature Rock and Roll right-hand pattern which I'm still fascinated by even after 15 years. When I was a kid, I wanted to play like that so bad! I loved this groove so much, I loved the punchy nature of Mark's playing each time he played that riff. But I never understood completely how it's done. I still don't, but at least I think I got somewhat close after studying 70 songs. Think about it, just to START to sound close to the real deal one spend 15 years and study 70 songs. That's the music we're working on here. Pavel.

perfect job as always Pavel  :thumbsup :clap

in your song list with this rhythm pattern you can add "No wonder he's confused" (from "Golden demos")

for "Twisting by pool", you are right about the studio version which features a fingerstyle part, but live, Mark plays that song with a pick.

Thank you! I think that's not the only song where he does that, but surely, if there's a choice of fingerstyle and pick, I'll always go with a fingerstyle version. The Man's Too Strong was actually harder to play with a pick for me :lol Needs more concentration than just to pick it with fingers. And some people said this to me as well so it's quite universal. That song actually sounds pretty good played with fingers, kinda like Privateering.

Ah, yes, "No Wonder He's Confused" is a pretty cool song! I wanted to do "Belle Starr", but since it's not Mark's song, "No Wonder He's Confused" would be a good replacement.

"Quality Shoe" is a fun little song, always lifts my mood whenever I play it or listen to it, and I always play it on a uke. So I couldn't resist playing it on the ukulele in lesson #70 as well. Yes, that's the 70th video and I'm really proud of that. It's not a really big number, but each number represents a song, the unique way to play it, an army of people who loves it. And "Quality Shoe" is all about fun! Pavel.

I always thought it's a great song, not only by the classic rock mood it has but also because of the lyrics, so funny...

Yes, and I love how a brilliant songwriter can take a random topic, or see a street sign (isn't that happened to MK with Quality Shoe? I can't remember) and write a song about it. It's like Paul McCartney's song about Picasso, which he wrote on the spot reading a newspaper or something and wrote a song as a dare from his friend, a great story. And Quality Shoe is not only a great song on its own but a great tribute to Roger Miller as well! And I wish I would add all this into my video, but I forgot about all this. Maybe for a reason, haha. It's a fun little song.

... If you could use a change of pace
And be excused from the rat race...

Yes. Mark saw the sign 'good quality shoes' But they really were of poor quality. A song about human dignity because everyone deserves to have good shoes.

The same approach as with Sultans. I never liked this song. It's well done and nicely written and all, but the style did not fit on. The album from my point of view. After Why Aye Man it was a huge letdown to hear this one after the tension of an announced new song.

Have to admit this part always makes me smile:

Now I wish you sunny skies
And happiness wherever you may go
But you got to realise
There'll be wind, there'll be rain
And occasional snow

For me this song is not really about shoes but about life itself. It mentions many situation of life that anyone would live, and our attitude about all those situations, and that part, "You got to realise there'll be wind, rain and occasional snow" is a clear reflect of some of the difficulties life have for you.
You might get lucky, now and then

:thumbsup Of course, the shoe is only a symbol of a certain metaphor
I know the way I can see by the moonlight
Clear as the day
Now come on woman, come follow me home
