Some moments ago a friend of mine sent me a message telling me that something was happening about the musical, very excited, but ended being nothing...

Seems that someone is impersonating Guy on instagram and is reposting his posts about the LHM in Chichester and my friend thought it was new, until he got a private message from that profile IN SPANISH! thinking him for being his fan blah blah blah... be careful if someone contact you via social media telling that they are Guy, MK etc

This silly little thing brought me back the musical to my mind, with the new record and TCT projects and the DS Live box to be broadcasted next month, I totally forget about the musical and the fact that Guy told me in his forum that "there were plans afoot" to bring it to the London stage, and that being already in October with no news about it, there is little chance this happen before Autumm 2024, maybe summer 2024 or it would be too soon if it's not announced already?

As long as some of us already attended Edinburgh and Chichester, this looking forward to London is now (At least for me) more a thing of having an official release of the songs that having another chance to see it.

I just took the chance and saw some of the videos still available in youtube about Edinburgh (none from Chichester unfortunately)

Did you see that a Band Aid musical will be at The Old Vic next year?

Maybe someone will play MK in it! But it does take up a slot Local Hero could have used :(

Reading what the Old Vic in London says about it, it looks like there is nobody impersonating MK, as far as not even DS are mentioned... looks like they hadn't such a big impact in that concert as we thought:

I might consider going to it as I'll be in London for the Transatlantic Sessions show, but I'm not sure if I'm that interested as far as they don't even mentioned DS!

"The Local Hero Musical is currently still on hold, plans are afoot".

I think these are good news.

I always suspected that, after reworking the musical for Chichester by Daniel Evans with MK and Guy (Evans asked Mark to write a new first song and rewrite musically other two songs), and considering that Evans was taking a place as co-artistic director of The Royal Shakespeare Company, who runs some musicals in London, further than Shakespeare plays, he would want to take his Local Hero version to London. This "currently still on hold" suggest me (as far as my understanding of English arrives...) that the RSC would have already scheduled all this 2023, and probably 2024 and any plans, that are "afoot", would have to wait in the queue.

But the way Guy answered me, makes me think this is going to happen in the future, which I really hope it does, as it seems that any chance of releasing the music on CD/LP depends on the musical being played in London.

I really would want that it can happen late 2024, the Chichester dates were announced in March 2022 to happen in October the same year, 7 months in adavance, but the Edinburgh run was announced in April 2018 to happen in March 2019, almost a year in advance.

I wonder if the big news about the big tune today - getting lots of media coverage - might act as a catalyst for getting the musical off the ground again?

Full marks for optimism!  The projects are unrelated though.

Nothing sensational. Guy just says that “It’s looking for its third run. The producers are very committed to it”

Thanks, I will try to listen myself when I have enough time.

I really hope that third run really happens and comes with the release of the songs in cd and LP!

Me too!
Especially a release of the music (particulary Mark and the band's versions)

One can dream at least...
