This team shows that that time of super stars is over and the team spirit decides. Germany already showed that in 2014. Would have been too funny England winning the World Cup in that year Germany went out so early.

Watching the game yesterday I was thinking how bizarre would be this England team reaches the final having a low quality team in comparison with others that they had, having people like Shearer, Sheringam, Gascoigne, Beckham etc in mind...

This England was no way better than many others that failed, but in general this world cup has been very low on quality in general.
Totally disagree, this has been a very interesting cup, and yes, good to have this single star teams fail. Too bad the extremely boring style of France has resulted in their final achievement

I was thinking the same (except that Beckham was never world class) and what LE said about team spirit too.  Of course, a good draw got them through but luck helps in cup competitions all the time whether it's a good draw, refereeing decision or an injury.  This can help or hinder a team in cup competitions every time so a lot of luck is involved.  This might have been England's best chance and also for Belgium's so-called "golden generation" who will be past it in 2022.

But not for the European championship in two years, also, only Belgian defence needs partial replacing till '22, not our attack

The fitness of Kompany has been an issue for years sadly, but the Euros are no World Cup.

In Brazil we say Mick Jagger brings bad luck to whoever he's openly supporting, on-site or not. As soon as I saw his Instagram post I knew England was going home empty-handed  :lol

Regarding the WC itself Belgium is the best team imho. At least they played the best football. After Belgium lost I was hoping for a France v England final but unfortunately I seem to have "jaggered" the brits...

The best team and the team with the best in this world cup are two very different teams.

France is the team who played better as a team, but Belgium was the team with the best players.

Croatia is the one with more luck in the easier part of the competition. England could had qualified as well.
You might get lucky, now and then

Croatia was huge in the final but paid the price for the extra hours. France was fresh and took advantage of it. Well done, les bleus!
