Heard this stuff from Guy before... was it Get Lucky he said was similar to Brothers in Arms?!

I expect more of the same and I'm fine with that. We've had these minor diversions with technology before, nothing really new.

GF:

The album is a slight diversion from those before but then again, it's your interpretation that's important.

This makes me really excited!

Sounds experimental and outside the comfort zone, and also makes expectations rise for the tour setlists.

Right on! Guy does however qualify his statement by saying 'slight deviation', so we shouldn't expect anything wild, I think. But I'm excited nonetheless.

Well, yes... But one of these days!

Hope for the best, plan for the worst. Worst in this case meaning 'more of the same', which of course is not really a bad thing at all.

I think PTTE is the new BIA to be honest but apart from that...

I'll believe him this time because I want to believe him!  No more pipes! ;D

Still nothing on MK's official website

mk.com said that the release of Mark's as yet untitled new album has been pushed back to June, 2020.
:think or was that about something else?

After Communiqué, Mark learned to always release something different from the previous one.

I don't know if that's really true - KTGC was folky and Privateering had some blues but mostly the solo albums have been an interchangeable hodge podge of rock/blues/country/Americana.

Fine with me but if you played someone Shangr-La and slipped in a track from Tracker I don't believe they would notice.

Release the official news and the kraken !

Hah! No way they'll be quick and modern.

PCM just needs to restart the fax machine so they can get the info out to the record company.

What I don't like about the cover is that it's too clichéd.

The title itself is still rather okay, I think - the word "wherever" lifts it above the mere "down the road" cliché.

The picture, though beautiful, is a total stock-photo cliché.

But the worst, IMHO, is the font. Not that it's ugly, but it's about as clichéd as it gets (as it was on The Ragpicker's Dream). Why use a fake typewriter font? We know for a fact that Mark is NOT writing his songs on a typewriter, but on a MacBook.

My guess is that they briefed the designer with the idea and asked him to "suggest a couple of pics and fonts."

It's kind of sad that Mark's (and Dire Straits') covers never nearly lived up to the music (especially as there's no lack of fantastic artists around), but I've become used to it over time and didn't expect much else.

Still very exciting to see it, though. Not for what it is, but for what it announces. And I do love the song titles.

For me, a new cover is like a dream come true. I dreamed about something similar to Tracker. A lot of space and a blue sky. We drive to where the sky is wide
And the moon is low...
The moon is definitely somewhere :)
I know the way I can see by the moonlight
Clear as the day
Now come on woman, come follow me home
