Apart from having a few references to other songs, it is the ambience of the song that appeals to me and I really love Mark's guitar and also Guy's synths.   It creates a picture in my mind.   I can just imagine these guys in the song swaggering into the dancehall, wearing all their fancy gear!    It's not lifeless at all - doo-wop!  ;D

Mark Knopfler is unique - meaning no matter the style, the instrument or the band he always manages to impose his identity on the song - and that may be the very reason why it feels like every song is a rehash for some people.

Exactly the point. Again for me, not a great song but very good one! The album looks and smells sooo fresh :P

As I'm getting older, I realize I'm kind of tired with long, winding solos in rock and pop music (jazz is a different story). Now I appreciate a tight, fat groove a lot more, so this song, and GOYS, is right up my alley. It's first and foremost the groove that gets the ladies up and dancing (shaking their money maker :D) and us guys bobbing our head.

btw the guitar should be the Blue Pensa, very similar sound to Don Grosh or LesPaul middle pickup position (the first 2 are basically 99% the same guitar with different look)

This one went "strait" to my all time favorites. I couldn't care less if it resembles or contains fragments of other songs. Pretty much everything produced these days could be analyzed like that but why. I enjoy every second of it. Brilliant work from MK and team!
...Well, he's a big star now but I've been a fan of his for years. The way he sings and plays guitar still bring me to tears...

20 listens now, and don't like it, I'm afraid ,
I love marks guitar playing on it!!, but its just all the back ground noise so 80's and i really think its horrible,

I feel bad (sorry guys think this is first time I've moaned about a track on here apart from so far away and romeo and a lot of the straits stuff etc) lol ,i preferer terminal of tribute too over this! , was excited about 2nd track on album,

but have gone back listening too my traditional folk and my wonderfull blues today, son house , screaming Hawkins, john lee hooker and bb king , blind mc wile mctell and other knopfler solo stuff over this ,

really sorry guys!!!!,

know alot of you guys love this stuff

OMG I love this song!  ;D. The guitar sound and licks give me goosebumps sometimes, especially the one around 2:45  ;D.
I was listening to yesterday on my phone because I had nothing else to play it on. And I loved it already, but like that. Just arived home and played on my good audio system,
And wow, I love this song even so much more... Quallity and soundwise it is really superb as well :clap.

Can't wait to hear this one live! Still 2 weeks to go for the whole album  ;D
