I like the chorus singing with Guy's background vocals very much by the way. Shake em all down..

LE

If the credits posted here are correct, the backing vocals are not Guy's, but instead Danny's.

Yes but I can clearly hear him and trust my ears more than some liner notes who have already had two mistakes in it ..  :lol

So what's it about? What's the setting? Poker? Striptease? Lots of clothes and shoes are mentioned. What people dress up like this, with a skull cane and these kinds of hats? Las Vegas?

LE

On the dance floor? :lol

I believe the "dance floor" in question is metaphorical, like "back in the game". Hence the reference to a "comeback".

I really dig this song.  Kind of lukewarm on GOYS, which I think is weak lyrically and not well sung.  If the rest of the album is in the same vein as these two I will be pleased. Not that I don't like the folk-roots stuff, but I'm ready for something different.

Yes but please don't leave my question too early only because of Quizzaciously's funny comment. Comeback idea is obvious, and I get that the dance floor has the same meaning as the first lines of Everybody pays (I got shot off my horse so what? I'm up again and playing in one of these big saloons on main).  But he describes a certain type of character, especially about clothIng style. Who has a comeback here?

I really have no clue whom Mark is writing about here, but I love the imagery.

For some reason, I have the Dylan video Duquesne Whistle in my mind when I hear this song:

I'm not saying BOTDF has anything to do with Dylan, but that's just the image I see, sort of.

I like this song! Voice, guitars, synths etc. Nice. Sound reminds me of the Brothers in arms album. Guy was clearly responsible for the pling-plong sounds and patterns on that album, and they have made a comeback here. The long directionless outtro too. I don’t hear any On Every Street album in the song, but Danys bongos are playing Your Latest Trick from the OES tour throughout the song (a bit annoying, because you’d expect Chris White to appear any second). I hear a bit of Follow Me Home in the song too. I normally like MK’s more country and rootsy songs best, but this was nice! And for the first time in AMIT history I don’t agree with Dusty

I can imagine this song getting a lot of play on the radio. Very radio friendly. GOYS, too, for that matter.

I was thinking about Your Latest Trick the other day, too and with its' comeback on the set list 2015 and with Danny back in the band I think it's pretty likeky that we will have it in OES style, don't you think?

Me, too. I read that "smokeless" is an US expression. So maybe Las Vegas indeed?

Yes, I would think so. But perhaps with more jazzy drumming because of Ianto?

Boxers make comebacks and MK has already connected boxing with dancing in Secondary Waltz so it's probably boxing song number 100.

Listening to the song a lot today, really love it still. I also loves how he sings "We’re gonna look so sharp when we walk in
They’re gonna be jazzed we'd come". I love how he sings the "so sharp when we walk in..." a little bit around the rythm, bit behind the rythm ;D

'Terminal of tribute to' rehash. Sorry if it's me being rude, but it's basically the same song with different lyrics and arrangements.

The groove and plinky-plonky GF production remind me of Punish The Monkey as well.

There's certainly a Las Vegas thing there to my mind.  Stetsons are not worn down Carnaby Street!
