I checked the personnel playing on that album (Stars on the Water), and Albert Lee is on that list. I'm pretty sure that's him playing the beautiful solo on that track. It wouldn't surprise me if Mark has stolen a few licks from it.





Here's Albert playing it live years later. Either he copied the guitarist who played the solo (Vince Gill played electric guitar on the album too), or he's the one who played on the song. It's very similar:





At any rate, Albert Lee is not only hot licks and fast playing. He can play very Mark-like (or Mark can play very Albert-like ).
