Thank you all for this lovely idea.
Would it be a good idea to wait with a decision on the date for maybe another month?
By then maybe the idea of bringing the Local Hero musical to other places in 2023 could have been released (after the Chichester production is over).
Maybe some of us would love to combine a trip to the UK in 2023 with an evening of MK's LH music.

That's a great idea, and in fact is the reason why I didn't join this yet, because I hope that next year could be the LHM year in London, and save the trip for that!

 :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup

Are we 100% sure that LHM will go to London then??

No, we are not, but it is on their plans.

Well what I suggest is to anyone who may want to attend LHM in London to provisionally fill in the 'Back in the day' meet up date poll for now and IF the dates are released we can reassess the meet up dates to fit in with whatever LHM dates are released...

That way we get a rough idea of numbers who wish to attend the meet up...

We can ask how much they charge for the Studio 1 at British Grove. As long as we don't need any sound engineer or instruments, just the studio, and catering, maybe we can afford that!

:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

I'm joking, please don't take offense.

I think it is a brilliant idea and something very nice to do, once this pandemic nightmare ends. Bringing the Bluesclub to play is also a genius idea, maybe one cover band would be great too. And for those who play instruments... maybe jamming ourselves?

You may be joking but it is not impossible (or was). My current boss once told me he was in England with his family and besides doing things together they also decided to make things happend for themselves. He had signed up for "VIP music value coupons" as he recalls, and British Grove Studios was one of them. He went there but he had no idea who the owner was. He went there because of it being a cool studio, and actually saw Mr. Knopfler but only briefly. Then they had a tour of the place.
He was told that they stopped these tours later on.

Cheers Peter

Many hotels have business suites for hire these days for presentations, meetings etc.  We could perhaps hire one of these and have a swap meet for bootlegs and other memorabilia.  It would be nice to meet in a room setting like that too instead of our usual pub setting when we usually congregate around tables and miss out on seeing others.  Could have some music on and lay on some sandwiches, drinks, sausage rolls even! 😋

Through the day we can visit places of Knopfler historical interest and/or visit the Spanish City (which has already been mentioned).

I think that Daniel Evans kind of suggest during this pretalk show that something might happen... He is leaving Chichester to join the Royal Shakespeare Company, and they host not only Shakespeare plays in their various theaters in London but also other musicals and shows!

Hi all,

Superb idea! I'm in, I just didn't vote since I have no real preferences, I will comply to whatever. I just would like to visit the Spanish city, but that seems to be a must for everyone anyway!

Cheers

If Newcastle is the winner and we go to Spanish City, there is an excellent fish and chip restaurant there called Trenchers.  We have been to the one at Whitby many times and both have won awards for the best fish and chip restaurant in the UK.   Just a thought for the trip to Spanish City.

They also serve dishes other than fish and chips, as can be seen from the menu.

My mouth is watering already!  I notice a link to book a table, perhaps an idea nearer the time if others agree.

Just checked Newcastle flights from the airports close to me, Valencia, not any flights to Newcastle, Alicante, expensive flights to Newcastle, around 200 euros.

However when there is a closed date confirmed, would check if there is any chance.
