The United Palace Theater would be one of the best NYC venues to see MK in if this is true. I had front row seats for Jackson Browne there late last year and the place is just beautiful inside. All of the architecture has a "neo-classical" gold type look to it. Pictures don't do it justice. It opened as a theater back in 1930, then it was used as a church, and now it is used as both a church / concert venue. Acoustics aren't that bad either.

Anyway, it would be cool if these dates are true, as a MK show there would really be something.

It is official from http://www.myspace.com/markknopfler/

The markknopfler.com team sleeps.

Why early? North America, next Europe. Did you listen to any MK interview?

Well, last time the US tour dates were released fairly late (early 2008 if I remember correctly), and they weren't all released at once. Anyway, this looks official.

Interesting that he is playing much smaller venues this time:

NJPAC, Newark, NJ = 2,750 seats [2001, 2005, 2008]
Count Basie Theatre, Red Bank, NJ = 1,543 seats [2009]

Yes, was just about to say, don't recognise these venues from previous tours.

Smaller venues in the US, bigger venues in the UK. Hmm.

I would prefer to visit the smaller venues to see MK. Believe me, I live in town with 15  000 000 (official) / 25 000 000  (unofficial) nationality, and I hate a big venues.

I would too and I'm happy with the venue selection. After all that though, I just realized that the northeast dates fall at the absolute worst time next year for me, and in fact I may not be able to go to any of them. Go figure.
